Saturday of Art Deco Fest is known for lectures, the evening ball, and the first day of shopping. SHOPPING! I was at the door bright and early to A) get first dibs on something juicy, maybe and B) sneak my shopping in before I had to start my volunteer shift. Fortunately I got a little dress and scoped out some suits for Husband. Unfortunately, I had to cut my shopping short as, little worker bee that I am, I had to head off to work the check-in table for the fest. It was a fun shift, though, as I got to get to know fellow volunteer, Alison (Hi, Alison!)
After my shift and a little more shopping, we strolled around deck and took some more shots. The Queen Mary has so many places to explore and take fun photos.

The ball that evening was a great time and sped by before I knew it. I made my gown and put on almost every rhinestone bracelet I own. Everyone breaks out their best baubles for the ball. Held in the original Cabin Class restaurant, the ball featured the music of Dean Mora. The room has gorgeous artwork, including this piece Birds of the New World, which, among other areas of the ship, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles has contributed funds to help restore.
One of the pieces has a wood map that had ships that moved as the voyage progressed, allowing original diners the ability to see where they were. Unfortunately, the ball was over too soon, but the fun continued after hours. Woo hoo!
