1940s Dinner Dance at The Ebell

My last post I chatted with you about the dress I made to wear with my marcasite brooches my husband gifted me with.  I of course needed to tell you about one of the occasions that I was able to wear them.  It has become an annual tradition for the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles to co-sponsor a dinner dance with the private ladies club, The Ebell of Los Angeles. This year paid tribute to the film Casablanca and the 1940s.

Fezs and ’40s gowns abounded, dancing lasted till late in the evening to Dean Mora’s orchestra, a magician amazed guests, dance performances enchanted, and tours and costume displays showcased The Ebell in all its splendor.  The Ebell, known as the last location that Amelia Earhart spoke before she disappeared, is a gorgeous venue that I have profiled before.

Sometimes as a blogger or Instagrammer we put ourselves in silly situations, subject to the patience of our loved ones and the looks of others.  What was an innocent picture above, showing my marcasite with the dress…

…turned in to an ogling session.  (Silly Lily and Brian!)

Here are Lily and Brian looking more, ahem, respectable.
We were quite terrible at taking pictures the rest of the evening, but here are the paltry few we managed to capture.

I do hope you enjoyed the post, the dress, the silliness and the glamour.

Oh, how glamorous! It looks like a beautiful setting, and the guests clearly rose to the occasion (even while lowering the tone 😉 ) Thank you for sharing the photos.

Looks like a great time, and I absolutely love all the outfits! 🙂

  6. Gorgeous dress and accessories. That "ogling" picture made me grin ear-to-ear. An evening out needs a good spot of lighthearted fun like that to really make it complete. 🙂
